Avoiding beeing robbed on holiday

We've been robbed in London, Rio de Janeiro, and Tangier.

Each of these times we were not paying enough attention.

In each of these cities we were told that the police were corrupt.


London is dangerous. The police have a bad reputation.

We have come close to being robbed on a bus in Bombay, on the metro in Lisbon and in a rough part of Paris.

On each of these occasions we were alert to the bad guys.

Watch you don't get mugged in Tangier.

You are generally safest in rural areas, in Moslem countries, and in small countries.

We have felt safe in places like Venice, Valetta, Lucerne and Oslo, but have not felt safe in places like Naples, Miami and Harare.
